Chapter 10

Listen to the Story

Later that afternoon, Anna came into the café for her usual coffee. Maya showed her the old map of the park. When Anna saw the yellow paper, her eyes went wide. She sat down and told Maya and Eric a very old story.

"Twenty years ago, the park was different," Anna said. "A man lived here, and he had a secret. People said he went to the forest every night ." She explained that the man had a small, hidden box. One night, there was a great problem in the town, and the box disappeared. Nobody saw the man or the box again for a long time.

"I saw a man in a grey coat recently," Maya whispered. "He stood near the big oak tree."

Anna looked toward the lake. "Many people told stories about him," she said. "Some people thought he was a ghost, but I think he was just protecting something."

Maya and Eric listened carefully. They had many questions, but Anna had to leave. Now they knew the truth: the map was not just a drawing; it was the key to a story from twenty years ago. Maya felt the silver key in her pocket. She knew she had to go to the forest soon.
