Learning Tips

  1. Try to spend at least fifteen minutes a day learning French.
  2. Spend some time every week writing in French: short conversations, descriptive paragraphs, and/or whatever comes to mind.
  3. Make good use of the flashcards in the lessons to help you learn the vocabulary.
  4. Go back and review the lessons in this course every once in a while to refresh your memory of the vocabulary and grammar concepts. This is especially important if the lessons are becoming too challenging.
  5. When you have a few minutes free time, try thinking in French. You can think about your surroundings, things you plan to do, or just try and remember common phrases.
  6. If you have friends who speak French, or who are also learning, try to speak with them in French.
  7. Once you have learned some vocabulary, try watching French movies and tv shows. Reading French stories, like the ones included in this course, will solidify your vocabulary and help you become fluent in the language.
