Here is a story in both Spanish and English about two friends who visit Costa Rica for two weeks. The English version of the story is shown next to the Spanish version to help you understand the story. Reading and listening to the story will help you improve your Spanish reading and listening comprehension and increase your Spanish vocabulary. Desde el momento en que bajamos del avión, supe que nuestras dos semanas en Costa Rica serían inolvidables. "¡No puedo creer que finalmente estemos aquí!", exclamó Clara mientras caminábamos por el aeropuerto. From the moment we got off the plane, I knew our two weeks in Costa Rica would be unforgettable. " I can’t believe we’re finally here!" exclaimed Clara as we walked through the airport.
Nos hospedamos en un encantador hotel boutique en San José. Al llegar, el dueño, Don Jorge, nos recibió con una amplia sonrisa. "Bienvenidas a mi hotel. ¿Es su primera vez en Costa Rica?", nos preguntó. We stayed in a charming boutique hotel in San Jose. Upon arrival, the owner, Don Jorge, greeted us with a wide smile. "Welcome to my hotel. Is this your first time in Costa Rica?" he asked.
"Sí, y estamos muy emocionadas por explorar", respondí. "Yes, and we’re very excited to explore," I replied.
"Les recomiendo visitar el Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio. Es un lugar mágico", nos dijo Don Jorge. "I recommend you visit the Manuel Antonio National Park. It’s a magical place," Don Jorge told us.
Nuestro primer destino fue precisamente ese. Nos quedamos en una cabaña rústica cerca de la playa, rodeada de naturaleza. Durante una de nuestras caminatas, Clara señaló hacia los árboles. "¡Mira esos monos aulladores! Son tan graciosos", dijo riendo. Our first destination was precisely that. We stayed in a rustic cottage near the beach, surrounded by nature. During one of our walks, Clara pointed to the trees. "Look at those howler monkeys! They’re so funny," she said laughing.
"Y esos perezosos son simplemente adorables", añadí mientras tomaba fotos. "And those sloths are just adorable," I added as I took pictures.
Después, nos dirigimos a Monteverde, famoso por su bosque nuboso. Al llegar al eco-lodge, el dueño nos saludó. "Bienvenidas a Monteverde. Mi nombre es Ernesto. ¿Les interesa un tour por los puentes colgantes?" Then we went to Monteverde, famous for its cloud forest. When we arrived at the eco-lodge, the owner greeted us. "Welcome to Monteverde. My name is Ernesto. Are you interested in a tour of the suspension bridges?"
"¡Claro que sí!", respondió Clara entusiasmada. "Of course!" replied Clara enthusiastically.
Durante el tour, Ernesto nos explicó: "Este bosque nuboso es hogar de una diversidad increíble de plantas y animales. Si tienen suerte, podrán ver al quetzal." During the tour, Ernesto explained, "This cloud forest is home to an incredible diversity of plants and animals. If you're lucky, you might see the quetzal."
"¡Eso sería increíble!", dije, maravillada por su conocimiento. "That would be amazing!" I said, amazed at his knowledge.
Nuestro siguiente destino fue La Fortuna, hogar del majestuoso volcán Arenal. Nos alojamos en un resort con aguas termales naturales. Clara, con una expresión de felicidad, comentó: "Esto es justo lo que necesitábamos para relajarnos." Our next destination was La Fortuna, home to the majestic Arenal volcano. We stayed in a resort with natural hot springs. Clara, with a happy expression, commented: "This is just what we needed to relax."
Visitamos la Catarata de La Fortuna y nos encontramos con una pareja de viajeros alemanes, Hans y Greta. "Hola, ¿también están de vacaciones?", les preguntó Clara. We visited La Fortuna Waterfall and met a couple of German travelers, Hans and Greta. “Hello, are you on vacation too?”, Clara asked them.
"Sí, estamos explorando Costa Rica por un mes", respondió Greta. "Yes, we are exploring Costa Rica for a month," Greta replied.
"Qué envidia. Nosotros solo tenemos dos semanas, pero estamos aprovechando al máximo", añadí. "How envious. We only have two weeks, but we're making the most of it," I added.
Para cerrar nuestro viaje, fuimos a Tamarindo, una vibrante ciudad costera. En el hostal frente al mar, conocimos a Carlos, un surfista local. "¿Les gustaría aprender a surfear?", nos preguntó. To close our trip, we went to Tamarindo, a vibrant coastal town. At the waterfront hostel, we met Carlos, a local surfer. " Would you like to learn how to surf?" he asked.
"¡Sí, eso suena genial!", respondió Clara emocionada. "Yes, that sounds great!" replied Clara excitedly.
Carlos nos enseñó algunos trucos y nos llevó a los mejores lugares para surfear. "Gracias por ser tan amable. Hemos aprendido mucho", le dije después de una divertida sesión de surf. Carlos taught us some tricks and took us to the best places to surf. "Thanks for being so kind. We’ve learned a lot," I said after a fun surf session.
"De nada. Me alegra que hayan disfrutado", respondió Carlos con una sonrisa. "You’re welcome. I’m glad you enjoyed it," Carlos replied with a smile.
Las dos semanas pasaron volando, y cuando llegó el momento de partir, nos llevamos con nosotras recuerdos inolvidables y amistades que durarían para siempre. Costa Rica nos había enamorado con su belleza natural y su gente acogedora, y prometimos regresar algún día para descubrir más de este paraíso. The two weeks flew by, and when it was time to leave, we took with us unforgettable memories and friendships that would last forever. Costa Rica had made us fall in love with its natural beauty and welcoming people, and we vowed to return someday to discover more of this paradise.
