These prepositions help you describe how someone or something moves from one place to another. They answer questions like:
- Where are you going?
- Where does the movement start?
- What path does something take?

Into
Into is used to show an object is entering a space or area.

Onto is used to show an object is moving onto a surface.
| The cat jumped onto the counter. | O gato saltou para o balcão. |

Out of is used to show a person or object is leaving a space.
| She walked out of the room. | Ela saiu da sala. |

From
From is used to show a starting point.

Toward
Toward is used to indicate movement to a destination.
| He walked toward the station. | Caminhou em direção à estação. |
| The dog ran toward me. | O cão correu na minha direção. |
Through
Through is used to show movement from one side of an enclosed space to the other.
| She drives through the tunnel. | Ela dirige através do túnel. |
| We walked through the park. | Caminhamos pelo parque. |
Across
Across is used to show movement from one side of a surface or line to the other.
| We walked across the bridge. | Atravessamos a ponte. |
| The cat ran across the street. | O gato atravessou a rua a correr. |

| The day is warm and sunny. The sky is blue with a few white clouds. Mark walks along the shore, looking at the waves on the ocean and the boats in the distance. He hears people laughing. He turns to look and sees a family walking a black dog. Mark waves at the family, then walks towards a café he sees in the distance. He climbs up some stairs and walks along the grey sidewalk until he reaches the café. He enters the café and walks up to the counter. | O dia está quente e ensolarado. O céu é azul com algumas nuvens brancas. Mark caminha ao longo da costa, olhando para as ondas no oceano e os barcos à distância. Ele ouve pessoas rindo.
