The words are shown with the definite article and the plural form is shown in parentheses. Pictures are shown with most of the words to make it easier to remember them.

Introduction

The German word is given for each of the following pictures along with the definite article. The plural form of nouns is given in parentheses. For example: der Mond (e). In this case der Mond means the moon. The plural form is die Monde. (-) means there is no plural form of the noun. See the lesson on nouns for more information about the plural of nouns in German.

Es ist zu kalt. It's too cold.
Es ist eiskalt. It's freezing.
Es ist bedeckt. It's overcast.
